When I probably should be "sleeping" myself, I find myself here in my apartment writing another blog post!
DJ Duo, Two Friends (see my previous interview and blog post on them here), just released a Passion Pit remix of "Sleepyhead" literally hours ago. World renowned DJ JAUZ actually released a remix of the same song about a half a year ago, and the even more known DJ Borgore did his version 6 years ago! The original track (just below) was released by Passion Pit as a single off of their first EP, Chunk of Change, in September 2008. The song contains samples of "Óró Mo Bháidín" by Mary O'Hara and "San Francisco Scene (The Beat Generation)" by Jack Kerouac. ("and everything is going to the beat.") :Source - Wikipedia

The obvious difference among the tracks lies in their BPMs (beats per minute, or basically the tempo). The original version produced by Passion Pit plays at 106 BPM. Two Friends' version sits at 102, Jauz's is at 150 while Borgore's version is 140 BPM - A very interesting range to say the least. I hate categorizing songs into genres (shout out to every artist who's ever preached "F*ck a genre!"), so I wont do that here. I will say though that each version is extremely unique, and that's really cool.
Other remixes of this song are out there, and I don't mean to ignore them, but these three definitely come out on top so far. Do you think "Sleepyhead" will be remixed by a big name artist ever again? Should it be left alone for now?
Listen to the three versions below! We have our favorite ; ) do you? Let us know in the comments.
