Don Sullivan, aka HIRAM, is DJ/producer and owner + production leader of Electric Impulse. His is a driven and knowledgeable individual who has a promising vision for the future of his company. Learn more about Don and Electric Impulse in the following interview!

Phil: Hey Don, thanks for taking the time to do this interview, I know you have a thousand things to do right now.

Don: No problem, man. Let’s do it.

Phil: How did you get to where you are today?

Don: My background in in digital media and video production. I grew up in Milford, NH and went to school in Florida at a media production school. There I gained a lot of knowledge about production, and I helped set up and run major conventions in Disney World. I’ve been in the scene for awhile and actually started DJing myself two years ago. What I’m doing now is the most passionate thing I’ve done to date. Even handing out flyers in the freezing cold has been a positive experience, because I know it’s leading to bigger and better things.

Phil: What are your goals for expansion? Are you trying to book gigs in Boston as well as NH?

Don: Our focus is about a 50 mile radius from here. That’s pretty standard. That’s what we figure people will drive to. But pretty much, we’re trying to make Manchester, NH lit again!!

Phil: Talk about your first show you put on.

Don: Last year at Cloud 9 on Hampton Beach. It was a small, basic show with no visuals..only sound and a bit of lighting. The venue was awesome, and it was a good start for us -That was our first production. Our second show was really where we were able to connect a lot of the dots so to speak. We called it, “Krampus Christmas,” and it’s going to be an annual event now. We had a guy in a Krampus costume, we had music, visuals, the whole nine yards, and that was a lot of fun!

Phil: So tell me how you guys booked Luca Lush for tonight.

Don: Our booking manager, Evan Lange is very good. Simple answer haha.

Phil: Nice, so what’s the plan for the future?

Don: Well right now we do a regular night at the Bungalow Bar and Grille on Valley Street, Manchester. Most nights, whether it be hardstyle nights or bass nights or whatever, are actually pretty lit. Then monthly we are trying to do bigger productions. Next is Dion Timmer and Voltran on May 27th! But overall, I want our company to be kind of a one-stop-shop. We’re trying to do everything ourselves instead of hiring outside vendors...we can help with touring, promoting, sound, visuals, basically whatever the individual tour needs.

Our next step is to make more connections with all of the other shows going on. We can’t do everything, but we want to push stuff out there: “A rising tide lifts all boats”: The more people exposed to shows, the more the network will grow – This is the best community ever! We want it to get bigger!

Phil: I love that. There really is something special about the EDM scene and EDM community. Is there anything you’d like to add or say to the fans?

Don: So I mentioned earlier that we want to be a one-stop-shop for touring artists. Well not only do we want that for artists, we want the same thing for our customers. We understand that people are busy. In the coming years we’re going to be rolling out a monthly podcast and a more specific promotion strategy. We want people to know where the good shows are and not have to do their own research on their own time. That’s it.

Phil: Good stuff man. Have a great set tonight, and good luck the rest of the way!

Don: Thanks so much. Thanks for coming out tonight.
