Hennessey Sound Design Coming To Ears Near You

react-text: 67 Located in Norton, MA, Hennessy Sound Design is a professional sound system design and manufacturing company. Their motto is “Delivering on a passion for sound,” and from what I’ve read and heard they really do just that. They exist to “satisfy the hunger of today’s bass culture loyalists,” or as I like to call them (and people like myself): “Bassheads.”
You can check out this video posted by up-and-coming (mainly dubstep) producer, Squnto, describing the quality of the sound design.
What follows is a bunch of fancy words describing exactly what goes into the production of these high quality speakers - They utilize dado construction, high strength polyurethane adhesives and wood screw fasteners, complete with the highest quality drivers available. Sounds like good stuff, right? Well, it is. You get a top notch design which yields top notch sounds, especially for "heavy bass" music (and most other music for that matter).
The picture above was referred to a “brutal dance stack” on HSD’s Facebook page.
In the above picture, I see 16 individual speakers, and according to the specs on their website, the peak of each speaker is 7,000 watts of sound. Now (remember, I'm a math teacher by day and DJ by night), I DJ'd Homecoming this year in my school's gym for 500 students with two, 100-Watt speakers...and that was plenty loud enough. So pictured above is 16 x 7,000 = 112,000 watts of sound. For comparison sake, according to this Wikipedia article, the sound of a turbojet engine in your face is less than that at 100,000 watts...damn.
HSD offers customizable designs that can satisfy whatever vision you may have for your speaker(s). For the quality you’re receiving, it seems to me that the prices are quite reasonable. On top of that, out of 24 reviews on Facebook, the company has received a 5 Star Rating (out of 5) from 23 reviewers (and the other review gave 4 Stars) – seems pretty legit to me.
I can't wait to one day hear music from these babies..and I wont have to wait too long because according to a friend of mine, Hennessy Sound Design will have its speakers in action January 19th, 2017 at the Middle East in Cambridge and January 27th at the Waterfront Tavern in Holyoke. I have not confirmed this yet with anyone officially, but I definitely plan to be going to at least one of these shows if such is the case. I need to hear this sound design live!! According to my same friend, "the speakers are so meaty!" I think that's a good thing.
