I joined an online community called "Excision's Headbangers" about a week ago. At the time of this post, I am one of 26,458 members. This group has opened my eyes to such incredible amounts of new dubstep and other bass music over the past week that it's unbelievable. But something else caught my eye today.
I missed the initial post because I was at work, but one of the members of the Facebook group (namely, Jeremy Plurr) posted a video of himself headbanging to one of Excision's newest tracks, "Neck Brace." Apparently, after some typical "internet bashing," Jeremy decided to delete the video. What caught my attention was a handful of other posts by other members of the group that called out the "negativity" that was directed towards the video. I assume that the admins of the group were quick to act and deleted any negative posts - Kudos to them because I couldn't even find anything bad afterwards.
When I asked Jeremy why he chose to delete his video, his response was, "I deleted it because I did not want kids who love to rave to think that ravers are hating on people because ravers are all about PLUR: Peace, Love, Unity, and respect...that is what I see when I go to raves."
Back to the reason I'm writing this...flash-forward to just over an hour ago and Jeremy (per the multiple requests and delight of many a member of the group) has re-posted his video! In just 1 hour the video has received over 100 comments of praise and hundreds more positive "Facebook Reactions." This community of ravers deserves to be heard, and they will show the world that raving can be a positive experience. People like Jeremy inspire the rest of us. I hope he keeps dancing like no one's watching because that's what it's all about.
Oh, and Jeremy's public response post to the group a little over an hour after re-posting the video below was as follows:
"You are all beautiful souls." 'nuff said if you ask me.
UPDATE: Through all this excitement, Jeremy notified me that Jeff "Excision" Abel himself has replied to the video! Half an hour ago...his reply: "respect homie! keep the vibes flowing :) So much love in the comments you guys are all awesome <3"
